Word Assist serves as an effective resource for players of word tile games, such as Words With Friends (WWF), facilitating the identification of potential word combinations. The tool is designed to enhance gameplay by streamlining the word search process without overshadowing the inherent challenge and enjoyment of the game.

The Home screen features a user-friendly interface where players can input their letter tiles along with a search string. Users can specify a maximum word length and choose to search for the term at the beginning, end, or anywhere within the words generated. For instance, entering the letters 'z', 'h', 'o', 'r', 't', 'e', 'u' alongside the search word 'back' reveals options like 'backhoe' (19 points) or 'outback' (18 points). These results offer a range of valid words based on the given search parameters, including any letters already present on the game board.

It is important to note that Word Assist does not factor in the modifications from Double or Triple Word or Letter squares. This aspect retains the essence of strategic gameplay, requiring players to evaluate various scores and select the most advantageous option based on their game circumstances. The essence of competition remains intact, as the app does not play the game for you.

Additional search examples illustrate its versatility:

• Given your tiles: d, a, e, n, r, i, r
• Inputting 'elude' with a maximum length of 15 returns words such as 'deluder', 'deluded', and 'eluded'.

The use of an underscore as a placeholder for any single letter further broadens search capabilities. For example, searching for 'v_i' with a maximum length of 8 yields results such as 'vainer' and 'vein'.

The Lookup Screen provides an additional utility by allowing users to check dictionary validity for any word, irrespective of their tiles. This allows verification of words like 'na'; if results yield a match, the word exists in the dictionary. If no results appear, it is unrecognized.

Advanced searches can be executed using wildcard characters. By entering a pattern like 'f_z', players can find three-letter words starting with 'f' and ending with 'z', such as 'fez' and 'fiz'. Similarly, entering '%z' searches for any word ending with 'z', returning options like 'razzamatazz' (worth 50 points). The ability to combine wildcards—like '__z%'—enables searches for words beginning with any two letters followed by ‘z’, producing results like ‘razzamatazz’ and ‘zyzzyvas’.

Word Assist effectively reduces the painstaking process of scrolling through extensive word lists while preserving the enjoyable challenges that define word tile games.
